We are singing a new song this Sunday and it was incredible at rehearsal. I was shocked at the power that they  had. I can’t wait till Sunday.

The song is called “Great I Am” by New Life Worship. It has been around for a little while but was recently re-released. Check it out. Learn it. Shout it out on Sunday.

We had a great time in our services at HGBC! In our second service, we did a baby dedication. This is simply a time where the church and parents can commit to pray for the children. We want to help raise the next generation of leaders. Yesterday was a reminder for me that we have tons of young families in our church and that I am getting old…

Let me say this, I have read through the Bible several times in the past. I would always struggle when I just plow through cover to cover. With Year of the Bible 2012, we are reading chronologically so all of the events flow together. It’s good to see how certain events and passages from the Old Testament are quoted in the New Testament. So for all of you guys who are not going through YOTB2012, get back in it. Don’t give up!

We had almost 100 kids up on the stage with us on Sunday morning. Our Children’s Choir Musical is this Wednesday so we thought it would be a good idea to have them sing with us. They jumped right in and led in worship. It was really good to see and be a part of it. Exalt Christ. Make Disciples. Pass the Torch.

We get to open God’s Word and hear truth. We get to corporately praise the name of Jesus.

I love my church!

I have been listening to a great song here for the past several weeks and we are going to sing it on Sunday. Take a second and listen to it. I think you will enjoy it.

Saturday we had the opportunity to run in the USMC Mud Run in Columbia, SC. It was a fun time of running and getting muddy and just having a good time being boys! I really enjoy getting to do these kinds of things with some of the guys from our staff. It builds teamwork and strong friendships. It also helps us out with our Pastor, who is right there in the middle of everything. You see, any chance we get to take a couple of friendly jabs at him, we take!! Of course, all in good fun! In Pastor’s sermon yesterday, he mentioned how David was physically trained to battle before he faced Goliath. He trained by fighting lions and bears. It’s awesome to get to train for something physical like a mud run with a group of guys while knowing that we train even harder  spiritually for the Lord.

We were obviously a little slow in our movements yesterday as we worshipped. I had about 20 of my friends on stage to belt it out with me! The congregation sounded really good yesterday. People engaged with the Lord. Just a side note, each of the songs we sing are either to or about the Lord. We make every effort to sing songs that are doctrinally sound. I don’t do this much, but it really makes a huge difference when you sing God’s word back to Him. We looked at Psalm 84:11 while we sang Sun and Shield. The song seemed to go to another level. Reading the scriptures during the service is really powerful!
