That’s right.
You can’t make this stuff up.

So every now and then I like to tell you about some of the songs and artists that I am enjoying.
Some of these may be new and some not so new. Either way, I like them and I want you to have a listen!
Gateway Worship’s Great Great God is really a good album.
Some of my faves from that cd are:
Sun and Shield
Great Great God
Every day
Holy Holy Holy
I’m also listening to All Sons and Daughters.
Check out their songs:
Reason to Sing
Wake up
Oh our Lord
They are more folksy than some of the worship stuff that I listen to which is a nice change from the norm sometimes. Check out some of those songs and tell me what you think. Also, if you know of a really good song or artist I’d love to hear them.

Another great day at HGBC!
God is moving in our midst each and every week. It is so good to see the hand of the Lord on our people and our church.
We had a powerful day yesterday. The morning services were rich and our night of worship at our main campus was huge. Our church came together, all 3 campuses, and worshiped and prayed together. It was incredible.
I am honored to be a part of HGBC. I have been given opportunities far greater than I deserve. For that, I am grateful!
Here’s the set list from yesterday:
New Doxology-Gateway Worship
Jesus Saves-Tim Hughes
You alone can rescue-Matt Redman
Your great name-Natalie Grant
Never once-Matt Redman

Many of you know that I don’t really care for germs. I’m really not that crazy with it, but I just don’t like them. I don’t sleep in a bubble at night or anything like that. I do wash my hands often and use lots of hand sanitizer though. Any way I can separate germs from me, I will try it. Well, I had a moment on Sunday that may forever change my life…
So on Sunday after our sound check, I went to the restroom like I do every week to re-tuck my shirt. Laugh all you want, but there are only a few things about clothing better than a freshly tucked shirt! Well I took my jacket off without thinking about my in ear monitor that I use while on the stage. I paid a pretty penny for those things. They are specifically molded for my ear. I love those monitors. Well before I could react, they were swimming in the toilet………………… There was a long pause. It seemed like an eternity. Could this really be happening? One of my greatest fears happening right here, right now. I thought long and hard about my next move. I reached down and grabbed the wire and pulled it out of the toilet. It was as if I could see some sort of germ house party happening immediately. I started to dry heave. Toilet water on my in ears! So I rushed over to the sink with incredible focus and precision like I was about transplant a new heart into an opened chest. I did what everyone else would have done. I turned on the faucet and ran water over the monitor. It was worth risking the damage to not have to just wipe it off with a paper towel, cause remember, that thing is going in my ear and I’m going on stage in T minus 10 minutes. So I cleaned it off, dried it, and did the test. I had to make sure it still worked. Remember in the movie Armageddon when Bruce Willis plugged in the nuke to blow up the asteroid that was pummeling through space towards earth and all of those memories of his daughter flashed through his mind?? That was me!
I recalled a song that gave me great comfort in my time of need. I started humming Jesus take the wheel right there in the bathroom. I felt peace fall on me like the morning dew. So I stuck the monitor in my ear and led worship for two services. Now my throat hurts and I have a runny nose. Luckily, the toilet contained only water. If not, I would have left North Campus in an ambulance…I ain’t kidding either…

We had great time in church yesterday. Strong message from Pastor Clint. Strong worship from our congregation. I had 20 something of my best friends leading worship with me and it was glorious.
I wanted to let you know that if you are interested in being a part of the Worship Team, (only slightly different from “choir”) I’d love to meet with you and talk about how you can plug in. We are doing a big push towards Easter. I’d love to see a full stage of folks leading worship. You can be a part!
Our folks really engaged yesterday during the singing time. That’s always a good sight to see. We worshipped. God was honored.
Here’s the set list:
The Lord Reigns-Cottrell
He is faithful-Bethel Music
Hosanna-Baloche
All to us-Tomlin-Passion
Christ is risen-Maher

This song has been really resonating with me lately. Loaded with powerful words including 1 Corinthians 15:55.
Together on Sunday we will shout, “O death where is your victory? O death where is your sting? Our God is not dead, He’s alive! He’s alive!”
Take a few minutes and get familiar with this song. Begin now praying that the Lord will draw us close. Pray for lives to be changed by the power of His Word.
It’s gonna be a great day!

Year of the Bible has been moving right along around here. It’s good to have a steady plan of reading and teaching each day and weekend. We have a few other big things coming up very soon that you will want to be a part of. God is doing great things here at the Grove!
Here’s the songs from Sunday:
God is able-Hillsong
Cannons-Phil Wickham
Always-Kristian Stanfill

Worthy is the Lamb-
10,000 Reasons-Matt Redman

I got a little bored tonight while my kiddos were watching a movie so I decided to move my blog from Squarespace to WordPress. I have a little more flexibility with WordPress and can do some of the things I want to do on my own. I think I’m gonna like this. We shall see! Things may look really weird on here for a while until I get it all settled. Just bear with me.

This week has been really outstanding!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, our students from Hickory Grove Christian School were a part of Awaken Student Revival 2012. It was a great time of worship and teaching. We had several members of our staff team teaching breakout sessions ranging from quiet times to dating to apologetics. David Nasser was the guest speaker. He did a great job of connecting with our students and pointing them to Christ. Team Wordplay, a 2 man improv team from LA, performed and did a great job with the students. GRITS came in on Tuesday night and did a concert. The students had a big time with them! My friend and colleague, John Stegemerten, and I had the opportunity to lead worship throughout the event. I will never get over seeing the students morph from hands in pockets looking around to outward expressions of their love for Christ. One of our students Ashley Hope Russell sang with us. She did an incredible job leading her peers in worship. She is definitely one of those teenagers that can influence and lead. We were and are blessed by her!
So we had a fun time with those students at Awaken. After the afternoon session, I came back to North Campus to lead worship for our mid week service. Since we used several of the North band guys at Awaken, I did an acoustic set with the remainder of our band. I am so grateful to have incredible band guys who love the Lord AND HGBC. We had a banjo and madolin last night on a couple of the songs. We took it old school with I saw the light and Pass me not o gentle Savior. There was definitely a bluegrassy kind of feel to those songs. It was fun. I think our folks really enjoyed it.
Then this morning I had the opportunity to do the music class for the 2 year olds. I sang lots of songs with motions and songs that I sang when I was little. They were jumping around and having a blast. I loved every minute of it!
We exalted Christ all week long.
We made disciples all week long.
We passed the torch all week long.
God was honored.
This was a powerful week.
I love HGBC!!
