"Why are you here?" is a great question. When I was being interviewed at Hickory Grove North Campus, my Pastor kept asking me "Is God calling you here?" The wisdom behind that is great. Think about it…if God is calling you to go or do something, He will equip you. He will give you the things you NEED. So my Pastor, Dr. Brown, knew that if God was calling me, then I would be equipped to do the work of the ministry.
I have no doubt in my mind that the Lord has called me to be the worship pastor at Hickory Grove North Campus. He has equipped me to the work here as well. There are bumps and roadblocks from time to time. That's part of equipping…on the job training, if you will.
So ask yourself:
1. Why am I here? (not my church, but actually where you are)
2. How has God equipped me to do ministry?
Once you get those questions answered, do what you learn.
If you are not supposed to be somewhere, find out why then do what you need to do to go elsewhere. That's good for all parties.
But if you know that God has called you to a place, stay there. That means stop looking elsewhere.
This does not just apply to people in vocational ministry. This applies to everyone.
