Wait…

I hate to wait.

THAT GUY at McD's that looks at the menu THAT HASN'T CHANGED IN YEARS drives me crazy.
Me + waiting = disaster…

Well, Jesus tells us to wait on him. ok…how…

1. The reason we wait is as important as what we are waiting for.
We wait so we can become what God wants us to be. Romans 8:23

2. Waiting means trusting.
God puts us in situations so we can learn to trust Him AND HIS PERSPECTIVE…2 Peter 3:8-9
Most of us would rather settle to have something now because we don't like God's timing…

3. Waiting means Humility.
1 Peter 5:5-6

4. Waiting means Prayer!!
James 4:1-2
Must communicate with God to recognize His voice when His time comes to give to us.
Gospel says the sheep know His voice.

So how do you wait?
Immerse yourself in God's word
Surround your self with God's people (not a christian bubble though)
FInd contentment and be grateful for what you have and where you are now.

Panama City Beach was great!!

Even though I was tired the whole week from the sun beating down on me, I had a great time in PCB. I have been leading worship for the same church now for 7 years. I have grown to love the students there. They are from Douglasville, Ga. It was cool to see the way God moved in every service. I was able to connect again with my friend Phillip Martin. He brought the word and the word was good! Overall, I think around 15 or so students made decisions for Christ in some capacity.

The hotel we stayed at was unbelievable. The pool was great, the beach was great. We had a wonderful time. The kiddos enjoyed it as well. Phillip is blessed to have 4 kids, 3 boys and 1 girl. The boys came all at the same time!!! Here are a couple of pictures.

The Cure…

The theme of the camp this week is The Cure. Jesus is the cure for the world. Students are realizing that for the first time this week. There have been around 10 decisions made for Christ.

Last night was really neat. Phillip Martin, camp speaker, challenged the students to honor their parents. This has probably always been an issue, but it really had a grip on some of the students. So after the service, Ric the student pastor asked them to call their parents and apologize. It was a sweet time listening to conversations all over the room. Students are being changed, which is causing families to be changed…

VBS…

I know that some of the guys who are in a younger, more relevant style church may see VBS as old and played out, but I must admit something, I love it. I remember being 11 years old and trusting in Jesus. I get to be on the other side doing the silly songs with the silly motions but I can't complain. I get to see my oldest son Miles just go crazy! He comes home with fun stories about Jesus. He is getting his basic understanding established! Some things should change…then again, some things should stay the same.
